If you were in the Amarillo neighborhood when the long white limo arrived to deliver Shakyra back home after her wish, you would have thought that someone famous was about to emerge, and she did. It just so happened to be the neighborhood celebutante of the day. Wish Kid Shakyra! The beautiful and talented Ms. Shakyra is a 10-year-old girl with Pilocytic Astrocytoma. This bigger-than-life young lady whose wish was to go on a shopping spree was granted on May 23, 2009 with the help of the Jewelers for Children 2009 national program.

Ms. Clerkley was able to eat lots of pizza and play games at Mr. Gatti’s after a day of shopping at Westgate Mall. She is the talk of her friends with her new shoes, adorable clothes and her new Wii gaming system. Her Wish Granters, Dana and Kent, were exhausted after following a 10-year-old super shopper through the mall, but both said they would do it all over again to see the smile on her face. Shakyra’s grandmother Nellie, who accompanied her on the wish, wrote in her note “that in all her years she has never met a more special group of people.”

When asked, Shakyra was so grateful for her special day and that the limo was so cool and she hopes to be able to ride in one again.
