Hooters restaurant grants wish
Hooters Restaurant in Lubbock recently took on the task of adopting a wish for Jennifer B., age 17. Jennifer’s wish was to visit Walt Disney World. Make-A-Wish® encourages local businesses to sponsor specific wishes, which enables them to become familiar with the child that they are supporting. Hooters became an outstanding sponsor and went above and beyond on their participation, with the staff coming together and putting on a stocking auction.
Waitresses volunteered their time and efforts to put together 57 themed stockings. Each waitress was responsible for receiving donations and putting together their own stocking. These stockings consisted of themes like “Toys for Boys”, which included several power tools donated by Home Depot, put together into a sleigh.
The auction took place on December 22 with a wonderful turnout. Hooters had set a goal of $5000, the cost of a Disney World wish, but ended up raising $12,225, enough money to cover another child’s wish! Jenny and her family went on their trip after Christmas, a wish they were able to receive very quickly thanks to the help the local restaurant.
Make-A-Wish® is very pleased with the creativity, dedication, and enthusiasm that Hooters put into helping our organization. It is sponsors like this that help fulfilling children’s wishes.
